Robert Burstad, Fergus Falls, MN, formerly of Thief River Falls, MN 88, passed away on Thursday, March 2, 2023 at Minnesota Veterans Home, Fergus Falls, MN.

Memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 25, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN with Reverend Eric Miller Officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be held at a later date at the Minnesota Veterans Cemetery at Little Falls, MN.

Robert "Bob" Burstad was born at home on the family farm in Pennington County. He was the 4 ^th of 9 children born to Gilbert and Thelda (Stolaas) Burstad.

He married Lois Haugen on December 23, 1955 in Mt Healthy, Ohio. They had one son Bruce born in Munich Germany. Bob enlisted in the Army in May 1953. He served with the 82 ^nd Airborne. While in the service he was stationed in Ft. Campbell, KY, Munich, Germany, Ft. Bragg, NC, Taipei, Taiwan, the Pentagon, Vietnam and Ft. Meade, MD, He was honorable discharged in June 1, 1973. Following his discharge he went to work for Forsberg's Manufacturing in Thief River Falls for a number of years.

Bob is survived by his wife of 67 years Lois of Thief River Falls, MN; son Bruce of Fisher, MN, grandchildren Graham and his son Uriah, Jordan and his daughter Zakia both of Thief River Falls, MN, Michaela Burstad of Crookston, MN, brother Terry Burstad of Blaine, MN; sister Ione De Bauche of Maple Wood, MN; sisters-in-law Carleen Burstad of Duluth, MN, Darlene Sattler of Amery, WI, many other relatives including special nephew Steve Anich, nieces Stacy Hartmann and Debra Pelkey.

Bob is preceded in death by his parents Gilbert and Thelda Burstad and siblings Rueben Burstad, Gordon Burstad, Greg Burstad, Eunice Hanson, Ruby Burstad, Ordell Bergdahl.
