Robert Raymond Olson was born on June 29, 1927 in the dining room of their home on 313 State Avenue to Carl and Mathilda (Stokke) Olson. He was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls. He grew up and attended school in Thief River Falls, graduating from Lincoln High School in 1946. He was a player on the championship Prowler hockey team and also had a Shoeshine business in Thief River Falls. Robert joined the US Navy and was proud of his military service. He served his country from June 14, 1945 until his honorable discharge, August 4, 1946. Robert returned to Thief River Falls and worked as a salesman, selling cigarettes and pharmaceuticals. He married Gayle Michalek in 1953 at St. Bernards Catholic Church in Thief River Falls and to this union two children were born. His family moved to California in 1965. Robert then moved to Montana and was an over the road truck driver for many years. He lived in Great Falls, MT for 23 years hauling steel, and then Polson, MT, where he was a sub contractor hauling mail for many more years. After retiring from truck driving, Corn moved back to Thief River Falls in 1998.

Corn was active in the Heritage Center, delivering meals. He never missed a Prowler hockey game since moving back. He also enjoyed gambling at the Casino. Fall was Corns favorite time of the year; in his younger days he was a great hunter, who enjoyed duck hunts. During his time in Montana he owned a race horse. He was a member of the VFW and American Legion in Thief River Falls.

Robert is survived by two sons, Scott (Sharon), Ontario, California; Brian (Alison), Hesperia, CA; three grandchildren: Nicholas, Shelby and Heather; one brother Wallace (Sylvia), Rapid City, SD; one sister Mavis Peterson, Stevens Point, WI; and nephews and many close nieces including Pat Kubiak, Sharon Taggart, and Sandy Knutson.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers Clifford, Kife; three sisters, Lilah Christianson, Agnes Gulseth, Ellen Hartley; and one great niece Nicole Knutson.
