Robert D. Olson of Oklee, MN, 71, died Wednesday November 12, 2014 at his home near River Valley. Funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, November 18, 2014 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN, with Rev. Bob Dahlen officiating. Burial will follow at Clearwater Lutheran Cemetery, Oklee, MN. Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a 5:00 PM Prayer Service on Monday, November 17, 2014 at Johnson Funeral Service, Thief River Falls. Visitation will also take place one hour prior to the funeral service on Tuesday, at the funeral home. Robert Dale Olson was born June 11, 1943 at home in Hickory Township, the son of Julius and Mable (Bakken) Olson. He was baptized on August 22, 1943 at Little Oak and confirmed on April 10, 1960 at Nazareth Lutheran Church, both in Hickory Township near Trail, MN. On August 12, 1961 Robert and Bonnie Siveny were united in marriage in Virginia, MN. To this union three children were born: Alan, Gregory, and Roberta. They made their home in Keewatin, MN, where Robert with his brother, Donald opened Don and Bob's Body Shop. They worked together for 20 years before Robert's son, Greg bought Donald out and it became Olson's Body Shop and Salvage, Inc., until his retirement in 2010. In 1976 Robert and Bonnie purchased his parents farm at River Valley. For many years the family commuted to the farm from Keewatin every weekend. Robert and Bonnie retired to the farm in 2010 and continued to farm until his passing. Robert enjoyed farming, hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family - especially his wife, Bonnie, their grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and their dog, Buster. Robert is survived by his wife, Bonnie of Oklee, MN; children, Alan (Nancy) Olson of Oklee, MN, Gregory Olson of Keewatin, MN, and Roberta (Gary) Yuhala of Nashwauk, MN; grandchildren, Jennifer (Darrin) Arveson of Trail, MN, Tina (Brennen) Wilkens of Crookston, MN, Brandon (Carrie) Yuhala of Nashwauk, MN, Tabitha (Lyle) Hurd of Keewatin, MN, Danielle (Amanda) Ylatupa of Chisholm, MN, and Miranda Rominski of Red Bluff, CA; great-grandchildren, Gabe and Dane Arveson, Gabi and Chloe Yuhala, Addison Baker, Alexis Wilkens, and Baby Girl Hurd due in December; sister, Lillian Myrum of Keewatin, MN; brother, Milton (Susan) Olson of Keewatin, MN; sister-in-law, Jeanette Olson of Hibbing, MN; several nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Julius and Mable Olson; brother, Donald Olson; mother-in-law, Hazel Frederichs; and brother-in-law, Selmer Myrum.
