Robert Giauque, 68, died Sunday, May 21, 2006 at home after a short battle with cancer, surrounded by his family in Thief River Falls, MN.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 1 PM, Wednesday, May 24, 2006 at St. Bernards Church, Thief River Falls, MN with Father Tim McGee presiding. Burial will be on Wednesday at 5:00 PM at Bellevue Cemetery, Larimore, ND.

Visitation will be 4 " 8 PM, Tuesday, May 23, 2006 at Johnson Funeral Service, Thief River Falls, MN, with a 7 PM prayer service, with Rosary to follow and for one hour prior to Mass at the church, Wednesday.

Robert Bob Duane Giauque was born December 21, 1937 at Grand Forks, ND, the son of Leonard and Anna Marie (Schmisek) Giauque. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Michaels Church, Grand Forks, ND. He attended St. Michaels Elementary School and graduated from Larimore High School in 1956. He then attended the State School of Forestry in Bottineau, ND.

On May 11, 1957, Bob was united in marriage to Myrna L. Lempe at St. Stephens Church, Larimore. He was employed as a surveyor at the Grand Forks Air Base from 1958-1960, He was a salesman for Sweetheart Bakery from 1960-1965. Bob went to work as a salesman for Supreme Bakeries in Fargo, ND from 1965 -1967, which later became Keebler Company, where he was Regional Salesman from 1967-2000, based in Thief River Falls and owner-operator of Bobs Saw Sharpening and Gun Repair.

He was a member of St. Bernards Church, Thief River Falls, Knights of Columbus, Sportsman Club, Trap Club and NRA. He was a master of fixing things, liked hunting, fishing, gunsmithing, wood-working and just generally loved being outdoors. He was an avid sports fan. He also volunteered to clean fish on Thursdays for St. Bernards fish fry. Most of all he loved spending time with his family and grandkids.

Bob is survived by 5 children: David (Vera) Giauque, Munich, Germany, Steven (Margie) Giauque, Bemidji, MN, Joan (Mike) Parsakalleh, Becker, MN, Paul (Shelley) Giauque, Fargo, ND and Theresa (Ryan) Browning, Albertville, MN; 13 grandchildren; 4 sisters: Patty Hess, Spartanburg, SC, Judy Giauque, Portland, OR, Marla (Dan) Brummer, Stayton, OR and Mary Brooks, Salem, OR; 2 brothers: Jim (Grace) Giauque, Grand Forks, ND and Len Giauque, Salem, OR.

He is preceded in death by, son Ronald Giauque in February 2003, an infant daughter and parents, Leonard and Anna Marie.

In lieu of flowers, memorials should be directed to the St. Bernards Catholic School, Thief River Falls, MN.
