Robert Hoff, 51, died on Wednesday, November 25, 2009 surrounded by his loving family at the Thief River Care Center after a short battle with cancer.
A private family service will be held.
Robert Dean Hoff was born on April 26, 1958 to Henry Oliver and Edith Vivian (Helgeson) Hoff in Bagley, MN. He grew up in Shevlin, MN and attended elementary school there and the Bagley High School. At the age of 17, he entered the US Army and did his basic training in Fort Orde, California and he served at Fort Sill, Oklahoma. He was honorably discharged in March of 1978.
He returned home to Shevlin. He worked at the Bagley Kiln and Dry. He was united in marriage to Jeanette OBeirne in Bagley and to this union three children were born. He attended the Bemidji Vocational School for mechanics. Robert liked to work out of his garage doing mechanic work. He loved cars and engines and had the knack to fix them. His pride was restoring a 1953 Ford Truck and an older International Flat Bed truck. Robert was a talented artist and drawer. He also loved to watch the Minnesota Vikings. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. For the last 15 years, he helped care for his ailing father and has lived in Bemidji.
Robert is survived by three children: Robert Hoff Jr., Aberdeen, SD, Erica (Mike Thomas) Hoff, Cudahy, WI, Alicia (Amber Gilbertson) Hoff, Thief River Falls, MN, 5 grandchildren: Michael Hoff, Andrew Hoff, Sylvia Hoff, Robert Ray Hoff, Evan Beito, 1 sister: Debbie (Jim) Voeller, Helena, MT and their son Michael Voeller; 4 brothers Richard Hoff, Bemidji, MN, Kevin Hoff, Bemidji, MN, James Hagen, Bemidji, MN, Jack (Phyllis) Hagen, Arizona, and several other nieces, nephews, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
