Robert M. Kraemer died on Saturday, July 10, 2010 at MeritCare Northwest Campus in Thief River Falls, MN at the age of 87 years, 10 months and 18 days. May his memory be blessed.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, July 16, 2010 at St. Bernards Catholic Church in Thief River Falls, MN with Father Rick Lambert presiding, Msgr. Roger Grundhaus and Father Bob LaPlante Concelebrating. Burial will follow at St. Bernards Cemetery in Thief River Falls, MN.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a 7:00 PM prayer service on Thursday, July 15, 2010 at St. Bernards Catholic Church in Thief River Falls, MN. Visitation will also be held from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM on Friday at the church.
Robert Michael Kraemer was born on August 22, 1922 the son of Fred G. and Mary C. (Beste) Kraemer at their family home. He was baptized and confirmed into the Catholic faith and attended St. Bernards Catholic School in Thief River Falls, MN. Robert was united in marriage to Anne Louise Hillyer, May 13, 1944.
They established their family dairy and small-grain farm in Smiley Township along the Red Lake River. To this union 6 children were born. JoAnn (Marc) Pream of Rochester, MN, Mary (Wayne) Ness of Ramsey, MN, Michael (Peggy) Kraemer of Thief River Falls, MN, Jean (Steve) Moulds of East Grand Forks, MN, Claudia (Wayne) Bendickson of Baudette, MN, and Michelle (Jerry) Bucket Kraemer-Paulson of Detroit Lakes, MN. He was a grandfather to 17 grandchildren; Stephanie, Rachael, Janelle, Jennifer, Brian, Ryan, Matthew, Katie, Tania, Lisa, Kelli, Tony, Sam, Eric, Bridget, Summer and Nicholas. There are 23 great-grandchildren; Katelyn, Cole, Madison, Garrett, Hannah, Erin, Ayden, Abigail, Maizy, Sophia, Avery, Maxwell, Anna, Jack, Sara, Alexander, Jacob, Owen, Quinten, Makayla, Chandler, Katie and Bree.
He was a member of St. Bernards Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, Thief River Falls Creamery, Land OLakes Cooperative, Smiley Township Board, Thief River Falls Eagles Club; volunteered with the American Cancer Society; and Robert was a 53-year cancer survivor. His hobbies and interests were fishing, trapping and hunting. His ultimate hunting trophy was when he shot a bull moose in Marshall County, MN. He also enjoyed gardening, tractor restorations, dancing, playing cards and dominoes all accented by his many stories of his lifetime experiences.
He is survived by children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Lenore Kraemer and Wylma Kraemer; many nieces, nephews and cousins; and his special friend, Myrtle Thune. He was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Aloysius C. Kraemer, Matthew J. Kraemer, Leona Kraemer Brennan and Jerome G. Kraemer.
He was preceded in death by his wife Anne Louise Hillyer Kraemer.
Being the lifelong, dedicated farmer, Robert Kraemer, plowed his last furrow, baled his last row of hay and made his final pass of cultivating on July 10, 2010.
