Obituary

Robert Reed, 82, died on Monday, January 16, 2012 at Sanford Hospital, Thief River Falls, MN. Mass of Christian Burial will be 1:30 PM, Friday, January 20, 2012 at St. Bernard's Catholic Church, Thief River Falls, MN with Father Rick Lambert officiating. Visitation will be from 5-8 PM, Thursday, January 19, 2012 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN with a Prayer Service at 7:00 PM. Visitation will also be held for one hour prior to the funeral service at the church. Robert N. Reed was born November 6, 1929 at Thief River Falls, MN, the son of John H. and Fannie (Zavoral) Reed. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Bernard's Church, Thief River Falls, MN. He attended school in Thief River Falls. He served his country in the United States Navy, one year in active service and then 6 years in the Reserve from 1948-1955. On September 11, 1952, Robert was united in marriage to Patricia A. Brunelle in Thief River Falls. He worked at Hartz Bakery, Wyley Construction and the Soo Line Railroad, from which he retired as conductor with 40 years of service. He held membership in the Thief River Falls American Legion, Eagles, United Transportation Union, Golden Pioneers, and AA. Robert enjoyed gardening, fishing, hunting, video editing and volunteer work at Northwest Medical Center, Soo Select Credit Union, Heritage Center and Valley Home, Thief River Falls. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with family. Robert is survived by wife, Patsy, Thief River Falls, MN; one son, Dan (Ellen) Reed, Kaunkakai, HI; three daughters, Renee Lahtinen, Thief River Falls, MN, Bonnie (Rod) Wentzel, Bemidji, MN and Patty (Dave Miller) Liden, Grand Forks, ND; seven grandchildren, Mary and Sara Wheeler, Minot, ND and Anna Lahtinen, Stanley, ND, Ben (Lucy Lund) Liden, Grand Forks, ND and Adam Liden, Grafton, ND, Cody Wentzel, Bemidji, MN, and Tyler (Sarah) Wentzel, Hines, MN, one great grandson Grayson Lahtinen. He is preceded in death by daughter, Sheryl Ann; parents, grandparents, two brothers, William and John, four sisters, Helen Cory, Dorothy Lane, Rose Reed and Betty Wood, also uncles and aunts.
