Robert Wurst, 83, died Wednesday, July 19, 2006 at Naples, FL.

A memorial mass will be held on Saturday, July 29th, 10:30 a.m., St. Bernards Catholic Church, Thief River Falls, MN with Father Tim McGee presiding. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial with full military honors will take place at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis on Thursday, July 27th at 1:00 p.m. A memorial celebration for his friends in Florida will be held in the fall. Memorial contributions are suggested to University of St. Thomas, Robert A. Wurst Scholarship Fund, Development Office, 2115 Summitt Avenue, St. Paul, MN 55105.

Robert Wurst was born on December 17, 1922 in Greenwald, MN to the late Theodore and Louise Wurst. A graduate of the College of St. Thomas and the University of Minnesota Law School, he lived and practiced law in Thief River Falls for over 40 years during which he served as City Attorney. Bob was proud of his service as an aviator in the U.S. Navy during WWII, followed by 15 years in the Naval Reserve. He resigned as a Lt. Commander in 1960.

He is survived by his loving and devoted family including his wife of 58 years, Mary Jane (nee Neary); daughters, Margaret (Robert) Brodin of North Oaks, MN; Barbara Jane Wurst of Key West, FL; sons, Thomas (Lisa) Wurst of Grand Rapids, MI; and Paul Charlie (Theresa) Wurst of Minneapolis, MN. Also surviving are sister, Carol Kelly of Denver, CO; grandchildren, Matt Brodin, Andrew (Katie) Brodin, Laura Brodin (Erik) Peterson, Colin and Erin Wurst, Jason (Megan) Carroll, Jennifer Carroll (Adam) Finger, and Heather (Nate Mortenson) Carroll, great grandchildren, Ian Finger, Ava and Riley Carroll and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Bernice Jacobs and Corinne Schriver.
