Roberta Klein, 60, died on Monday, March 30, 2009 at the Halstad Living Center, Halstad, MN.

Funeral services will be 2:00 PM, Thursday, April 2, 2009 at Johnson Funeral Service in Oklee, MN with Rev. Bob Paulson officiating. Burial will be at the Zion Cemetery, Oklee, MN.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral service.

Roberta Mae Klein was born October 25, 1948 to Fred and Esther (Peterson) Klein at Crookston, MN. She was baptized at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Plummer, MN. She was raised on a farm between Plummer and Oklee. Roberta was born with Downs Syndrome. She stayed at home until the age of 8 years old and then lived in a state hospital in Cambridge, MN. She lived in a few other institutions including Brainerd and Fergus Falls. Roberta lived at the Smith Group Home in Frazee for many years during the 1970s and 80s. She most recently lived in a group home in Red Lake Falls until failing health required her to move to the Halstad Living Center, Halstad, MN.

Roberta loved visits from her family. She had a playful side and had a good sense of humor. She enjoyed teasing her nieces and nephews. She loved music and liked to sing along.

Roberta is survived by 5 siblings: Vernon (Jeanette) Klein, Satellite Beach, FL, Arlo (Fe) Klein, Seattle, WA, Carl (Teresa) Klein, Silver City, NM, Viola (Bjarne) Kvasager, Oklee, MN, Laura (Clyde) Moen, Thief River Falls, MN, and 17 nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by an infant brother Gordon, her parents, Fred in 1978, and Esther in 1995.
