Roger Hyde, age 60, of Plummer, MN passed away on Tuesday, June 25, 2013 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND. An informal Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, June 28, 2013 from 4PM-7PM with a time of sharing and Committal Service at 5:30 PM at Johnson Funeral Service, 420 LaBree Ave N, Thief River Falls, MN. Burial will be held at a later date at Hillside Memorial Cemetery in Walhalla, ND. Roger was born June 14, 1953 in Red Lake Falls, MN to Mervin and Edna (Blair) Hyde and was a life long resident of the Brooks-Plummer area. He graduated from Pershing High School in Plummer and began working for Bud Zimpel Construction. He later drove truck for several companies including Hutchinson Transfer of Thief River Falls, MN. He was known as a loyal, hard working and dedicated employee and had a light touch with heavy equipment, working on the range, and on highway projects. His mechanical ability and love of animals were well known, and he was always ready to lend a helping hand. He loved life on the farm and raised cattle until health issues forced his early retirement in 2002. After moving to Plummer he especially enjoyed getting back in the field, working spring and fall with Esp and Melanie Christensen and their crew. Roger was preceded in death by his parents Mervin (1985) and Edna (2005), brother Gerald, niece Dawn, and a long list of 4 legged friends including his loyal pals of 14 years, Paco and Princess. Roger is survived by his brother Dennis Hyde, nephew Corey Hyde both of Detroit Lakes, MN and nieces Stephanie (Jonathan) Deitz and Stacey Swanson both of Moorhead, MN, as well as 5 nieces and 4 nephews.
