Roma Stu Chaput, 66 of rural Red Lake Falls died on Wednesday, July 22, 1998 at his home near Red Lake Falls, MN. Arrangements with Petterson Funeral Home in Red Lake Falls.

Mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday, July 27, 1998 at 10:30 AM in St. Peters Catholic Church Gentilly, MN with MSGR Roger Grundhaus Officiating. Burial will be held in the St. Peters Catholic Cemetery at the church.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, from 5 " 8 PM with a 7:00 prayer service at the Petterson Funeral Home in Red Lake Falls and also one hour prior to services at the church on Monday.

Roma Chaput was born April 22, 1932 at Langdon, ND son of Alphonse and Alice (Cheeney) Chaput. He moved with his parents to Pembina, ND as a young child. He attended country school there and in 1950 moved to rural Gentilly where he farmed with his father. On February 27, 1954 he was united in marriage to Marie Proulx at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in East Grand Forks, MN. They lived and farmed in Red Lake and Polk Counties until his retirement in 1995. Over the years he was also employed at Alma and Detroiter Mobile Home Factory in Red Lake Falls and from 1966 to 1992 at American Crystal Sugar Co in Crookston, MN. He was a member of St. Peters Catholic Church in Gentilly, MN.

Roma is survived by his wife Marie of Red Lake Falls: four daughters, five sons and one foster son: Debra and Fiance Dennis Hanson of Crookston, MN; Cynthia Johnson (Rick) of Luray, VA; Michelle Kruse (Guy) of Thief River Falls, MN; Rick Chaput (Peggy) of Crookston, MN; Tim Chaput (Shelly) of Red Lake Falls, MN; Lisa and Fiance Mark Menard of Crookston, MN; Craig Chaput (Carole) of Red Lake Falls, MN; Edward Chaput (Cherie) of Red Lake Falls, MN; Marc Chaput (Laurie) of Red Lake Falls, MN; Dennis Johnson (Eileen) of Glyndon, MN: 25 grandchildren, one great-grandson, one sister Theresa McNaughton of St. Paul, MN. Many nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He is preceded in death by his parents and one brother Rolland.
