Roman Radniecki of Oklee, MN, passed away on Saturday morning, April 11, 2015, at the Pioneer Memorial Care Center in Erskine, MN, at the age of 94. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, April 18, 2015, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Oklee, MN, with Father Bill DeCrans presiding. Burial will follow at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Cemetery, Oklee, MN. Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Friday, April 17, 2015, with a 7:00 PM Prayer Service at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Oklee. A Visitation will also be held one hour prior to Roman's funeral service on Saturday at the church. Roman was born on February 27, 1921 at home rural Trail, MN son of John L. and Engeborg "Emma" (Vatendal) Radniecki. He was the 8th of 10 children. He attended rural schools near Trail and at Crookston, MN. He graduated from high school in 1939 from Grand Rapids, MN. Later in his he did take some college courses for his profession. On October 19, 1944 Roman was united in marriage to Elaine Bowman at Plummer, MN. They made their home in a variety of places following the heavy equipment construction jobs in the early years. In 1954 they built a home on their farm in rural Oklee, where they made their life until 1970. Roman farmed part time, and worked heavy equipment construction for 26 years. He was a co-owner with his sister Catherine, of R&J Construction Company. In 1970 he accepted a teaching position at the Staples Area Vocational School in staples, MN. Roman taught heavy equipment operations there for 17 years until his retirement. In 1998 Roman and Elaine returned back to Oklee where he lived until entering Pioneer Memorial Care Center. Roman was a member of the Knights of Columbus and St. Francis Xavier Church in Oklee, MN. Roman loved to travel the world, which Roman and Elaine did throughout their marriage. Roman was a very talented landscaper and self-taught jack of all trades. He took great pride in improving his home and yard himself. Roman is survived by his wife of 70 years Elaine; children Keith (Shari) Radniecki of Verndale, MN; Renay Radniecki (Bill Bowman) of Crescent City, CA; Regene Radniecki of Crescent City, CA; Elizabeth (Richard) Raebel of Woodville, WI; Paula Radniecki of Chesapeake, VA; Charles (Carol) Radniecki of Coon Rapids, MN: 12 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren: brother Richard (Lavonne) Radniecki of Apache Junction, AZ; sisters-in-law Therese Radniecki and Marlene Johnson; many nieces and nephews. Roman is preceded in death by his son Ross, parents John and Emma, siblings Stanley, Stanislaus, John (Jack), Aloyious (Al), Casimir (Cobb), Virgil, Catherine Jensen Jorgenson, Helen Frank and Ann Grimes; several nieces and nephews.
