Ronald "RB" Byklum, 75 of Grygla, MN passed away on Friday, December 31, 2021 at Emmanuel Nursing Home in Detroit Lakes, MN with his loving family by his side.

The service to celebrate RB's life will be at 11:00 AM on Friday, January 7, 2022 at Grace Lutheran Church in Grygla, MN with Rev. Kristin Ostercamp officiating. Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM with a 7:00 PM prayer service on Thursday, January 6, 2022 at Grace Lutheran Church. Burial will be held at St. Olaf Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by Grygla American Legion Post 162, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2793 and Minnesota Army National Guard Honor Guard.

Ronald Dale Byklum was born June 11, 1946 in Thief River Falls, MN the son of John and Myrtle (Newhouse) Byklum. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Grygla, MN. He attended grade school in Grygla and high school in Goodridge

Ronnie entered into the United States Army in November 1965. He was stationed in Vietnam and was awarded the Vietnam Campaign Medal with Device 60, Two Overseas Service Bars, Sharpshooter, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. He was Honorably Discharged in August 1967.

On June 7, 1969, Ronnie was united in marriage to Nancy Blaine in Grygla, MN. They eventually settled on the Byklum Family Farm in Valley Township, west of Grygla and to this union three daughters were born, Sheila, Deanna and Karla.

In his early years, Ronnie did over the road trucking hauling grain and fertilizer. He also drove for Polaris and area farmers. On their farm they raised pigs, small grains, and beef cattle. Ronnie eventually started Byklum Livestock Hauling which he did for many years.

Ronnie enjoyed visiting with his friends and especially his grandchildren. He was lovingly known as "RB" to many. He enjoyed going to auction sales, sales barns and meeting his friends at the green table or behind the green door under the green roof.

He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and American Legion Post 162 in Grygla and VFW Post 2793 in Thief River Falls. RB served on the Valley Township Board and the Co-op Store Board for many years.

Survivors are his wife of 52 years, Nancy of Grygla; daughters, Sheila (Lorne) Olson of Wannaska, MN, Deanna Nordby of Grygla and Karla Byklum of Grygla; grandchildren, Kasey (Jacob Nelson) Nordby of Thief River Falls and Braeden Nordby of Grygla; siblings, JoAnn Hovet of Shawnee, WI, Lois (Don) Dodd of Detroit Lakes, MN, Duane (Rosalie) Byklum of Fargo, ND; sisters-in-law, Avis Byklum of Grygla, Gwen Blaine of Goodridge, MN and Holly (Tim) Betzen of Fertile, MN and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; sisters, Darlene Upton and LaVonne Delaney; brother, Rodney Byklum; brother-in-law, Roger Blaine; grandson, Skyler Nordby; nephew, Aaron Betzen; and nieces, Bridget and Baby Girl Blaine.
