Rose Nygaard of Thief River Falls, MN, age 76, died on Friday, July 24, 2015, at Thief River Care Center, Thief River Falls, MN. Funeral service will be at 7:00 PM on Wednesday, July 29, 2015 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN with Pastor Bruce Fisher officiating. Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Wednesday at Johnson Funeral Service. Rose Phyllis Guarino was born December 25, 1938 at Meadowbrook Hospital in East Meadow, NY the daughter of Joseph and Anna (Gunther) Guarino. The family lived on Long Island, New York where Rose attended Catholic school. She worked at several jobs prior to meeting her future husband, Donald at a White Castle Restaurant. On August 3, 1958, Rose was united in marriage to Donald Bernhard Nygaard in Hempstead Long Island, New York. The couple lived in Elmont Long Island for about four months and then moved to Lancaster, CA for about 20 years. To this union three daughters were born Donna, Marianne and Jodi. In October of 1976, they made their home in Thief River Falls, MN. Rose worked primarily cleaning houses and also worked for a short time in the fiberglass department at Arctic Cat. Rose enjoyed her pets, flower gardens, dancing with her husband, shopping, and spending time at her house. Rose is survived by 3 daughters, Donna (Don) Heaney of San Antonio, TX, Marianne Hay of San Antonio, TX and Jodi (Jeffrey) Olson of Baudette, MN; 5 grandchildren, Jeremy Nygaard, Holly Nygaard, Tiffany (Tim) Landaw, Tyler Flom and Trevor Flom; 5 great grandchildren, Dylan Nygaard, Isaac Nygaard, Addison, Peyton and Bronson Landaw; sister, Anna Teixeira; step-sister, Teresa Singleton; sister-in-law, Julia Guarino all of NY; and other family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald on October 23, 2012; parents; grandson Travis Flom; and brother, Phillip Guarino.
