ROY E. GORDON, 84, of Oklee, MN died on Friday, September 19, 2008 at Hillcrest Nursing Home in Red Lake Falls, MN

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, September 27, 2008 at 2:00 PM at Ebenezer Lutheran Church rural Oklee, MN with Reverend Jonathan Dodson Officiating. Burial of his ashes will be at Ebenezer Church Cemetery rural Oklee.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.

Roy E. West was born October 27, 1923 son of the late Edwin and Rose Mary (Osinski) West at Plummer, MN. Roys father passed away when he was a small child, his mother married Raymond G. Gordon, Raymond adopted Roy and raised him as his own son. He was baptized in the Lutheran Faith and confirmed at Salem Lutheran Church near Oklee. Roy attended country grade school, Goodridge High School and graduated from Grand Rapids Ag School. In the late 1950s Roy purchased a farm near Oklee and used the farm as his base while working construction all over Minnesota, South Dakota, North Dakota and South America.

Roy enjoyed trapping, hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed doing mechanical work and wood work and in his later years he enjoyed visiting and spending time at the casinos in the area. Roy was a member of the Operating Engineers Union #49.

He is survived by his sister Vivian (Gene) Frey of Clearwater, MN; numerous nieces, one nephew and many cousins, great-nieces and nephews along with many friends in the tri state area.

Roy is preceded in death by his parents Edwin West, Rose Mary Gordon and Raymond Gordon and one brother Arthur (Chicago, IL)
