Ruth Nelson Barros, 78, died Sunday, December 11, 2005 at Riverview Health Care Center, Crookston, MN.

Ruth Marie Rose was born July 24, 1927 at Leeds, SD, the daughter of John and Wanda (Garett) Rose. She was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran faith. She attended school in Plummer, MN and graduated from Pershing High School.

On May 10, 1946, Ruth was united in marriage to Ernest Nelson at McIntosh, MN. Ernest died June 11, 1988. The couple lived in Red Lake Falls, while Ruth worked at Hillcrest Nursing Home. She also managed the Lincoln Hotel, Red Lake Falls. The couple moved to Thief River Falls in 1967, she married Gordon Barros, August __ at Trinity Lutheran Church, Thief River Falls. Ruth worked at Club Caf, Rex Caf, Kifes Caf and Northwest Medical all in Thief River Falls. She provided day care for the elderly and the last few years looked after peoples homes.

Ruth was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, the Ladies, Aid and taught Sunday School. She enjoyed bingo, bowling, watching old movies and loved animals. She made the best potato dumplings.

Ruth is survived by children, Elmer (Sandra) Nelson, Thief River Falls, MN, Raymond (Lou) Nelson, Little Falls, MN, David (Joann) Nelson, Thief River Falls, MN, Mary (Zane) Kemvitski, Badger, MN and Richard (Jammi) Nelson, Thief River Falls, MN; grandchildren, Kristi, Karen, Kari, Mike, Matt, David, Jr., Jennifer, Rachel, Tamara, Ray Jr., Brianne, June, Crystal, Zane Jr., Montana, Rachel, Melissa and Stephanie; 8 great grandchildren.

Preceded in death by husbands, Ernest and Gordon, parents, step-parents, Ben and Nora Johnson, brothers, Emil and Donald Rose.
