Obituary

Ruth Johnson, 93, died Thursday, November 4, 2010 at Thief River Care Center, Thief River Falls, MN.

Funeral services will be 10:30 AM, Tuesday, November 9, 2010 at Our Saviours Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls, MN with Rev. Greg Schram officiating. Burial will follow in the Rindal Cemetery, New Solum Township, Marshall County, MN.

Visitation will be held from 5-8 PM, Monday, November 8, 2010 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN with a prayer service at 7:00 PM. Visitation will also be held for one hour prior to the funeral service at the church on Tuesday.

Ruth Johnson was born on March 19, 1917 in Holt, MN, to the late Nils and Olianna (Hanson) Engebretson. She attended school in Holt and was baptized and confirmed in the Christian Faith.

On November 18, 1937, Ruth was united in marriage to Clifford Melvin Johnson at Thief River Falls, MN. The couple made their home in New Solum Township, Marshall County, where they raised their two children. Clifford died on March 28, 1993, and Ruth continued to live on their farmstead until she entered the Thief River Care Center in October 2007.

Ruth was a Homemaker. She liked to embroider and bake bread, and visit with friends and family. She was a member of Our Saviours Lutheran Church of Thief River Falls, MN.

Ruth is survived by her son, Dale (Annette) Johnson of Newfolden, MN; her grandchildren: Mark (Kathy) Johnson of Bemidji, MN and Susan (Timothy) McCabe of Owatonna, MN; great grandchildren: Riley Miller, William, Benjamin, Matthew, Finn, and Ava Johnson and Zachary and Allison McCabe; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford on March 28, 1993; daughter Barbara; her parents; and sisters, Olive and Agnes.
