Ruth Wilkens 85, of Plummer, Minnesota, died November 20, 2008 in Grand Forks, ND.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Monday, November 24, 2008 at the Presbyterian Church in Red Lake Falls, MN with Pastor Tom Potter officiating. Interment will be held in the Presbyterian Cemetery, Brooks, MN.

Visitation will be held from 5-7 PM on Sunday, November 23, 2008 at Johnson Funeral Service in Red Lake Falls, MN with a Prayer Service at 7 PM. Visitation will also be held one hour prior to the service at the church.

Ruth Pearl Jenson was born in Halstad, Minnesota on June 7, 1923. She attended and graduated from Crookston Central High School. She was united in marriage to Paul Wilkens on August 11, 1943. Together they farmed near Brooks, MN until Pauls death. She worked at Hillcrest Nursing Home in Red Lake Falls, MN for many years as well as a Home Health Care Aid for Red Lake County. Ruth took great pleasure in embroidering, crocheting, reading, and watching birds at the feeder. She also enjoyed traveling, crossword puzzles, flowers, and making lefsa with the family.

She was a member of the Legion Auxilliary and served on the Plummer Senior Housing Authority Board. She served as treasurer for the Brooks-Plummer Presbyterian Cemetery Board and was an Elder and Treasurer for the Brooks-Plummer Presbyterian Church.

Ruth is survived by 3 children, Diane Rosenberg of Mentor, MN, Dennis (Sherry) Wilkens of St. Hilaire, MN, Daryl (Cathy) Wilkens of Grand Forks, ND; 9 grandchildren, Cori (Jeff) Brown, Shane Johnson, Brian Johnson, Paula (Jon) Praska, Jeff (Amy) Wilkens, Sheila (Shoan) Strange, Eric (Michele) Wilkens, Becky (Christopher) Steen, Tara (Chad) Ekren; 15 great-grandchildren, Laura Brown, Lindsey, Jared and Tanner Johnson, Kylea and Zach Praska, Allen, Jessica, and Amanda Wilkens; Jakob Hall, Jaeger and Syrie Strange, Breanna and Korey Wilkens and Emma Steen.

She is preceded in death by her husband Paul; son-in-laws Lowell Johnson; and Lowell Rosenberg.
