Sally Olstad Bloomington, MN, formerly of Grygla, MN, age 102,passed away peacefully Wednesday, July 10, 2013 at Martin Luther Care Center, Bloomington, MN. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, July 14, 2013 at 2:00 PM at Grace Lutheran Church in Grygla, MN with Reverend Vicki Saude-Worthington officiating. Burial will follow at Our Saviors Cemetery in rural Grygla, MN. Visitation will be held from 1PM - 2PM on Sunday at the church. Sally was born Selma Christine Olson in Grygla, MN on December 24, 1910, to Norwegian immigrants Carl and Anne Olson and was the fourth of twelve children. Sally married her childhood sweetheart, Paul Olstad, in 1930 and moved to Bemidji where she resided until the late 80's. She moved back to Grygla for about 15 years and finally to Bloomington, MN where she lived her final years. Sally was an active member the Lutheran churches where she resided and loved to sing in the choir. She was a member of the Eastern Star in Bemidji until her death. Sally liked to exercise and was frequently seen in front of the TV emulating Jack LaLanne. She cross country skied for many years. She was a daredevil and would try anything. At age 75 she tried roller skating with the kids but she fell and sprained both wrists. As a result, she couldn't cross country ski much that year and it really upset her. She loved to travel the world, knit, sew, and play bridge, Yahtzee, and dominoes. She kept her mind active late in life by working crossword puzzles. The family would like to thank all who cared for her and those who made her smile through visitations and cards. Sally was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Paul; daughters, Adelaide and Patricia; brothers, Olaf, Arvid, Norman, Waldemor and Walfred; and sisters, Gladys, Hilda, Ella, Corrine and Evelyn. Sally is survived by her son, Paul Jr. (Sue), her sister, Genevieve Jarshaw, and grandchildren, John Lillevold (Beth), Grant Lillevold (Kathy), Paul Lillevold (Dawn), Dale Lillevold (Janet), Tim Graham, Sari Graham, Erik Olstad (Claire), JJ Olstad (Jason Bailey), and David Collins, son-in-laws Ken Peterson and Fred Guyot , 18 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
