Scott Helgeland, 46 of Thief River Falls, MN passed away on Tuesday, April 4, 2023 at Altru Hospital, in Grand Forks, ND.

Visitation for Scott will be held on Monday, April 24, 2023 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN from 2 - 4 PM.

Scott James Helgeland was born on November 29, 1976 in Thief River Falls, MN. He was the son of James "Jim" and Barbara (Nornes) Helgeland. The family resided in Roseau, MN where he attended school, graduating with the class of 1995. He worked with his uncle Mike on the farm for a couple of years before starting his journey of being an over the road truck driver. He started at driving for Marvin Windows and Doors and then drove as an owner operator for the next 20 years before spending last few years of his life working in freight brokerage.

Scott met Tiffany Dobmeier out of high school and they were married in 1997. To this union three children were born Josie, James and Jessie. The couple lived together in Roseau, MN before divorcing in 2003.

Scott met and married Heidi Johnson in 2005. They later divorced in 2009.

Scott was with his life partner Missy Starren from 2010 – 2016. They resided in Warren, MN and spent many years traveling together, long haul trucking while making memories along the way.

Scott was reunited with his childhood friend, Denise Hagen in 2019 and was engaged to her until her death in 2021. They resided in Thief River Falls, MN and took in a cat together whom they adored.

Scott enjoyed fishing, visiting with his children and friends, talking about truck driving experiences, listening to Hank Williams Jr., and reminiscing about his high school wrestling days. He had a great sense of humor and loved his friends and family dearly.

Scott is survived by his children Josie (Matt) Helgeland of Euclid, MN, James Helgeland of East Grand Forks, MN and Jessie Helgeland of East Grand Forks, MN; half-brothers Chad and Paul Helgeland; his cat Luna; countless friends and extended family members.

He is preceded in death by his parents Jim and Barb Helgeland; step father John Larson; fiancé Denise Hagen; all of his grandparents; friends; and other extended family members.
