Scott Kalbakdalen, 39, died Saturday, June 18, 2005 in a car accident in Isanti County near Cambridge, MN.
Scott Kalbakdalen was born May 13, 1966 in Red Lake Falls, MN, the son of Lowell and Margaret Margie (French) Kalbakdalen. Following the death of his parents, the young family was raised by their grandparents, Gladys and Melvin Kalbakdalen.
After graduation from Lafayette, Scott attended UND where he became a huge fan of the Fighting Sioux, and remained so his entire life. When he was 20, he moved to the twin cities and worked a variety of jobs including security at Target and construction jobs. He worked at Scales Advertising for many years where he mastered printing and advertising layouts and worked as a model for home improvements magazines.
He bought an old home near his sister in South Minneapolis where he lived with his brother and renovated the house. This was a busy time for Scott as he was building his cabin on his favorite place to be, his lake property. Scott loved the weekends spent at the cabin, and shared it with everybody.
The light of his life, was his beloved son, Garrett. The sun rose and set on "his boy", and he loved nothing more than spending time with him.
In 2002, he bought a 10 acre farm where he painstakingly built a new 3 bedroom home for he and Garret. It was his pride and joy and he enjoyed fixing his old cars and puttering around with his projects.
Scott was a great friend to people and extended his home to many. He will be greatly missed by his son Garrett, North Branch, MN, his sisters, Janelle (Paul) Fischer, Lakeville, MN and Kim (Greg) Rossman, Eagan, MN and his brothers, David, Las Vegas, NV and Matt Lichtenberger, Aurora, IL , Grandma Gladys, Red Lake Falls, MN and many aunts, uncles and cousins. He was especially close to David with whom he lived many years, and spoke to nearly every day.
Scott was a shining star blazing across the sky. His true potential will never be known in a life cut all too short. Our grief at losing him is only diminished with the knowledge that he is finally at peace, home in heaven with a mother and father he so desperately missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents and aunts and uncles.
