Scott G. Reay, 40, Thief River Falls, died Thursday, May 19, 2005 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND.

Scott Gale Reay was born March 26, 1965 in Thief River Falls, MN, the son of Meribeth Folkedahl Dicken. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Pauli Lutheran Church. He grew up and attended schools in Thief River Falls, Billingham and Whitby, England. He graduated from Lincoln High School, Thief River Falls, MN in 1983. Scott pursued aviation mechanics, graduating from Northland College, Thief River Falls, with the aviation airframe and power plant technology degree. Most recently, he attended the University of North Dakota, where he was working toward an Industrial Engineering Degree.

In August of 1998, Scott was united in marriage to Dawn Lea Drexler in Isanti, MN. He worked in the oil field industry in Colorado, worked as an airplane mechanic in Crystal, MN, mechanical technician for M.T.S. Inc., in Eden Prairie, MN and while at UND, he worked for the Energy and Environmental Research Center.

Scott enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing with his friends, Wayne and Lonnie for muskies. He liked bow-hunting, deer hunting with the Delage gang, was a lifelong learner, enjoyed reading, and he had a strong mechanical aptitude. Scott was outgoing, had a good heart and was an excellent conversationalist. He competed in the Professional Musky Tour and published articles related to musky fishing. The only time Scott missed fishing was to watch the Vikings.

Survived by mother, Meribeth Dicken of Thief River Falls and companion, Wayne Kruse, St. Hilaire, MN; twin sister, Staci Reay and companion, Wayne Delage, Thief River Falls, MN; little brother, Brett Reay, Thief River Falls, MN; step-brother, Billy Dicken and fiancee, Kari Iverson, St. Hilaire, MN; step-sister, Lisa Dicken, Brainerd, MN; step-daughter, Azaria, Excelsior, MN and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Preceded in death by step-father, Billy Dicken; grandparents, Bonnie and Sigurd Folkedahl and Aunt Nancy Folkedahl.

Scott battled with the disease of alcoholism for many years. He lost the battle.
