Scott Rood, 50, died on January 24, 2010 in Fargo, ND, where the street life led to his death.

Funeral service will be 2 PM, Friday, January 29, 2010 at Faith Lutheran Brethren Church in Thief River Falls, MN with Rev. George Davis officiating. Burial will be at Hegland Lutheran Cemetery of rural Karlstad, MN.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral service at the church.

Scott Howard Rood was born March 19, 1959, at St. Cloud, MN. Scott and his sister DeDe lived in the metro area for some time. On December 20, 1963, Scott and Denise Rood were adopted by Howard Norman and Dorothy Jane (Stromlund) Rood of Strandquist, MN. The family resided in the Holt area.

Scott attended the Holt and Viking Elementary Schools and then Newfolden High School until 1975. He entered the U.S. Navy and was a Petty Officer on the USS Bryce Canyon and served in the Philippines and Pearl Harbor before returning to the United States. He received his high school diploma while serving on the ship in 1977.

After the military, Scott was married to Pam Hamling and to this union 4 daughters were born. They lived in the Twin Cities for many years and Scott managed the Birch View Motel in Coon Rapids, MN. Scott was also married to Esther Dalzell at one time.

Later in his life, Scott did auto body work at The Shop for Jeff Brouse and had also worked as a detailer at Northern Motors in Thief River Falls. He did odd jobs here and there, and most recently lived in the Fargo-Moorhead area.

He is survived by his mother Dorothy Rood, Thief River Falls, MN, sister DeDe (Arturo Alameda) Rood, Thief River Falls, 2 nephews: Matthew (Clarice Applebee) Sorenson, Thief River Falls, Jami Sorenson, Thief River Falls, great nephew Justice White, 4 daughters: Marie, Annie, Erica, and Eve all from the Twin Cities, MN, aunt Eileen (Ivan) Atkinson, uncle Dewey (Verna) Rood. He is also survived by several cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father Howard in 1980, and Uncles Albert Stromland, Lawrence and Russell Rood, and Aunt Gertrude Anderson.
