Obituary

Selma Larson, 87, died on Friday, May 16, 2003 at McIntosh Manor in McIntosh, MN.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 A.M. on Thursday, May 22, 2003 at Salem Lutheran Church in Oklee, MN with Reverend Bob Paulson officiating. Burial will be in the Salem Lutheran Cemetery, rural Oklee, MN.

Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Wednesday, May 21, 2003 with a 7:00 PM prayer service at the Johnson Funeral Service Chapel in Oklee, MN and at the church for one hour prior to services on Thursday.

Selma Erickson was born on November 17, 1915 in Equality Township, Red Lake County, MN, the daughter of Edward L. and Marget (Nereson) Erickson. She was baptized on December 25, 1915 at Salem Lutheran Church, Oklee, MN and confirmed at Salem Lutheran Church. Selma attended Sunnyside Country School in Equality Township.

Selma was united in marriage to Alfred Larson on August 6, 1935. The couple made their home in Equality Township. Alfred died in 1954. After Alfreds death, Selma continued to raise her family on the family farm until they were adults. Then she went out to work. Throughout the years, Selma worked at various jobs, including a Nursing Home in the Twin Cities, then in Havre, Montana, where she worked for five years for her son, Eddie, in the restaurant. Selma retired from St. Ansgar Hospital in Moorhead, MN and in the mid 1970s returned to Oklee. In April, 2001 she moved to McIntosh Manor, where she has resided since.

Selma loved traveling with her kids and grandkids to Nashville, Hawaii, Norway as well as many other trips. Her family was very special to her and she loved spending time with them. She enjoyed being outside.

She was a member of Salem Lutheran Church, where she was active in the Ladies Group.

Selma is survived by two children: Elaine Williamson of Missoula, MT and Eddie (Sharon) Larson of Oklee, MN; 16 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; two sisters: Caroline Rendahl of Fosston, MN and Evelyn Hanson of Clearbrook, MN; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred in 1954; her parents; daughters: Catheryn Steiger in 1997 and Ann Wilde in 1987; one son, John in 1999; sisters: Annie Vake, Hannah Vake, Laura Erickson and an infant sister, Laura; two grandsons: Randy and Bradley Larson; and one great grandson, Jonathan Steiger Lien.
