Senora Skay was born June 22, 1915 in rural Twin Valley, Minnesota, the daughter of Carl and Hilda (Natwick) Kvamme. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Faith. Senora graduated from Twin Valley High School. She attended Minnesota State University at Moorhead and earned a degree to teach elementary grades. She also attended summer sessions at Moorhead and Bemidji colleges. Mrs. Skay taught elementary grades at Heiberg, Blackduck, Preston, and Thief River Falls, Minnesota.

On June 15th, 1941 she was united in marriage to Ralph Skay at a rural Lutheran Church a half-mile from her parents farm, near Twin Valley, Minnesota. They were married for 67 years before Ralphs passing in 2008.

For 22 years, Senora was a substitute teacher and a reading instructor in all five grade schools in Thief River Falls.

As the wife of a high school coach, she tended to many duties -- from washing uniforms to keeping score. She celebrated the victories and eased the losses. She was an ardent Prowlers, Twins, and Vikings fan.

Senora and her husband, Ralph, were Trinity Church members for 29 years. She was a dedicated Chair member, a circle member, served on the Parish Board, taught Vacation Bible School and Wednesday bible classes. As a Zion Lutheran Church parishioner, she has been a member of Anna Circle and Leisure Fellowship, where she served as secretary for many years. She also served on the committee for Northrop PTA, the TRF Arts Council, the Concert Series, Hospital Auxiliary, American Legion Girls State Committee, and the American Legion Auxiliary.

Mrs. Skay is survived by three children: Sandra (Sam) Badalamente, Tobyhanna PA, Linda (Rob) Weinberg, Brooklyn Park, MN, Dr. Richard Skay, San Marcos, CA, brothers: Arthur (Delores) Kvamme, Brooklyn Park, MN and Conrad Kvamme, Arlington, MN, grandchildren: Mikal (Maria) Johnson, Seattle, WA, Melissa (Mike) Stapleton, Warren, NJ, great-grandchildren: Angelica, Tyler, Jakob, and Mia, and several nieces and nephews.

Her husband, Ralph, who passed in 2008, her parents, and her sister, Bernice Myers, preceded her in death.

Senora loved to read, she enjoyed church activities, cards, volunteer work, travel, puzzles, music, and baking. Most of all, she enjoyed visiting with family and friends.

Memorials are preferred to the Thief River Falls Education Foundation in honor of Ralph and Senora Skay.
