Severyn Duray, 89, died on Thursday, December 21, 2006 at his home in Thief River Falls, MN.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday, December 27, 2006 at St. Bernards Catholic Church in Thief River Falls, MN with Monsignor Timothy McGee presiding. Burial will be in Blessed Sacrament Cemetery, Greenbush, MN at 2:00 P.M. following the service.

Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Tuesday, December 26, 2006 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN, with a 7:00 P.M. Prayer Service on Tuesday evening and also, one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday.

Severyn Martin Duray was born on April 30, 1917 in Mora, MN, the son of Martin and Agnes (Grittner) Urbanski. At a young age he moved with his mother to the Greenbush, MN area. He was raised on the family farm, southeast of Greenbush, with his mother, stepfather, Joseph Duray, and eight siblings. He farmed with his family and later bought and cleared his own farm just west of the home place. He worked in the woods several winters in the Baudette area. Severyn loved the soil, animals and birds and always strived to preserve our environment.

On January 2, 1954 Severyn was united in marriage to Yarmilla Blazek in Stephen, MN. The couple continued to live on the farm until July, 1995, when they moved to Thief River Falls, to be near their daughter.

Severyn is survived by his wife, Yarmilla of Thief River Falls, MN; one daughter, Mary (Bruce) Gerardy of Thief River Falls, MN; one sister, Bernice (Menvil) Borgen of Greenbush, MN; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his biological father, Martin Urbanski; his mother, Agnes Duray; stepfather, Joseph Duray; sister, Doris; brother, Andrew; stepbrother, Romuld; stepsisters: Rose Bizek, Victoria Marynik, Annie Kukowski and Adeline Blazek.
