On May 18, 1941, Sharon was born to Wallace Evje and Myrtle (Widseth) Evje, in Bagley, MN. She was the eldest of four children. Sharon learned many skills on their family farm near Berner, MN. She spent her time caring for her younger siblings, learning gardening, canning, cooking, and sewing from her mother, and bookkeeping and farming from her father. Sharon attended grade school in Berner, MN, at a country school, then went to school in Gonvick, MN.

Sharon married Rodney Bergerson on October 5, 1958. They lived near Berner and Fosston, MN for a short time, before they moved to Duluth, MN. In 1964, they moved to Bemidji, MN, and later they moved to Thief River Falls, MN, in 1970. In 1971, they moved their family to the country near Thief River Falls, MN, and built their home in 1976.

When her three daughters were small, while she was home caring for them, she took in laundry, did sewing and alterations for people to earn extra money. Sharon sold Avon cosmetics for awhile when the girls were small and they enjoyed going with her to deliver the products. She went to nigh school to get her GED, then took classes to become a bookkeeper. Sharon worked as a bookkeeper first for her husband, when he had a mechanic shop in Bemidji, and then for Falls Diesel in Thief River Falls. Later on she had several other jobs she enjoyed. She was a home healthcare provider for the elderly and she was a nurses aide at the hospital. After that she provided daycare in their home for many children, including some of her grandchildren. Sharon worked at Digi Key until retirement. Rodney passed away in 2001. Sharon continued to live on their farm until 2023, when she moved to the Thief River Falls Care Center.

Over all of those years she continued to enjoy gardening, crocheting, and sewing. Sharon loved quilting with her friends at Zion Lutheran Church, where she was a member. Sharon had a gift for singing and was asker to sing solos in the church for weddings, funerals and Sunday services from the time she was four years old. More than anything she loved spending time with her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Sharon and her special friend, Wally Torgerson, spent many years attending ball games in the area. The pair also loved traveling together.

Sharon is survived by her daughters: Diane (David) Lee, Thief River Falls, MN, Joni (Lyle) Anderson, Grygla, MN, and Heidi (Rodney) Sletten, Thief River Falls, MN; Grandchildren: Tiffany Sterry, Ryan Lee, both of Thief River Falls, MN; Lindsay (Andrew) Oslund, Grygla, MN, Kyle (Meagen) Anderson, Ames, Iowa, Sam (Maddie) Anderson, Madison, WI, Nolan (Fiance’ Jennah Henrickson) Andeson, Grygla, MN, Kelsey (Kelly) Brateng, Thief River Falls, MN, Jayson (Missy) Sletten, Red Lake Falls, MN, Kristine (Mark) Oslund, Want Toska.
