Shirley Daley, 83, of Thief River Falls, MN died at Sanford Medical Center in Thief River Falls, MN on Sunday, December 2, 2012. Funeral services will be 2 PM, Wednesday, December 5, 2012 at Johnson Funeral Service, Thief River Falls, MN with Reverend John Wollenzien officiating. Burial will follow in St. Bernard's Catholic Cemetery, Thief River Falls, MN. Visitation will be 5-8 PM, Tuesday, December 4, 2012 at Johnson Funeral Service, Thief River Falls with a Prayer Service at 7 PM. Visitation will also be held for one hour prior to the service on Wednesday. Shirley Larson was born June 17, 1929 in Oakes, ND, the daughter of John Martin and Anna (Nelson) Larson. She was raised in the Oakes area until moving with her family to Thief River Falls in 1965. She graduated from Oakes High School in 1947. On April 19, 1948, Shirley was united in marriage to Charles Daley in Oakes. She worked for Northwestern Bell Telephone Company for 25 years in Oakes and Thief River Falls. Following Chuck's death on October 17, 1987 Shirley moved back to Oakes. The last 6 years she has spent living in Thief River Falls. Shirley was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, the Telephone Pioneers and the sewing club in Oakes. She enjoyed reading, politics, watching Wheel of Fortune, listening to talk radio and reading the Fargo Forum, but most of all she enjoyed time with her family and grandchildren. She was a good story teller, had a great memory and a great sense of humor. Shirley is survived by children: Sue (Torris) Bakken, Roseau, MN, Steve (Mary) Daley, Fargo, ND, Linda (Randy) Ronning, Champlin, MN, Karen (Mike) Looker, Thief River Falls, MN and Keith (Pam) Daley, Thief River Falls, MN; grandchildren: Kristy (Shane), Val (Bruce), Lance (Becky), Michael (Ashley), Melissa (Mike), Lindsey (Chad), Nicholas (Kellie), Jared (Lindsey), Darrin and Chelsea (Zack); great grandchildren: Peyton, Ean, Brittyn, Sydney, Eli, Cole, Kate, Betty, Mitchell, Vienna and Charlie; special daughter: Stephanie Daley; sisters and brothers: Alice Hurt, Alvin (Lucille) Larson, Margaret Rodine, all of Oakes, ND, Kenny Larson, Pelican Rapids, MN, Don Larson, Gwinner, ND, June Stroh, Lisbon, ND and Johnny (Vivian) Larson, Lisbon, ND along with many nieces and nephews. She is preceded by husband Charles, an infant brother, Robert, parents and grandparents.
