Signe Green, 92, died August 8, 2007 in Chicago, IL.

Funeral service will be 2 PM, Monday, August 13, 2007 at Bethany Lutheran Church, rural Thief River Falls, MN with Rev. Bob Dahlen officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery, Thief River Falls, MN.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral service at the church on Monday.

Born Signe Stenseth on October 4, 1914 in Thief River Falls to Ludwig O. and Tina (Stenseth) Stenseth. Signe was the 7th of 12 children. She was baptized and confirmed at Bethany Lutheran Church and graduated from Lincoln High School. In her younger years, she worked as a waitress in Thermopoplis, WY where she met her husband, Ora F. Green. They were married on February 15, 1939 in Kansas City, KS, where they chose to make their home. During WWII, Signe worked in an aircraft accessory plant supporting the war effort. Following the war, Signe became the loving mother to her daughter Trudi, who she always encouraged, helping her follow her theater and dance dreams. Signe was a member of the All Saints Lutheran Church in Kansas City, and the VFW Auxiliary in Kansas City. She was also a member of Ebenezer Lutheran Church in Chicago.

Signe is survived by daughter Trudi (John) Gavin, Chicago, IL; 3 siblings: Lynn (Laura) Stenseth, Brazil; Anne Hoel, Minneapolis, MN; Maurice (Helen) Stenseth, Thief River Falls, MN.

Preceded in death by her husband Ora on October 2, 1982; infant daughter Sheila Faye Green on September 13, 1948; 8 siblings: Lily Haynes, Theodore, Lewis, Arthur, Johnny Stenseth, Edith Hinman, Ruth Leader, Melvin Stenseth.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the American Cancer Society or the Alzheimers Association in the name of Signe Green.
