Solveig Swenson, 53, died Monday, March 23, 2009 at Thief River Care center, Thief River Falls, MN.


Funeral services will be 10:30 AM, Friday, March 27, 2009 at Our Saviours Lutheran Church, Thief River Falls, MN with Rev. Greg Schramm officiating. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery, St. Hilaire, MN.

Visitation will be 5 until 7 PM with a 7 PM prayer service, Thursday, March 26, 2009 at Johnson Funeral Service, Thief River Falls, MN.

Solveig Elizabeth Swenson was born July 12, 1955 in Banning, CA, the daughter of Melvin and Merilla (Thorstad) Swenson. She was baptized into the Lutheran faith and moved with her family to Thief River Falls, MN in 1961. Solveig was confirmed at Our Saviours Lutheran Church, Thief River Falls and attended school in Thief River Falls, graduating from Lincoln High School in 1973. In 1978, she moved to St. Hilaire, MN, where she lived until her death. She also attended Northland Community College and the Association Free Lutheran Bible School.

She worked as a care giver for the elderly for a number of years. Solveig also worked at Johnson Boarding Home, Valley Home and the hospital in Red Lake Falls, MN.

Solveig is remembered for her beautiful voice and love of music and art. She also enjoyed photography and gardening. She will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her mother, Merilla Swenson, Thief River Falls, MN; sister, Anita and husband Mike Cronk, Lawrence, KS; sister-in-law, Char Swenson, Peoria, AZ; along with nieces and nephews, Lea Byram, Brian Swenson, Paul, Sarah and Daniel Cronk and Cole and Cara Byram.

Solveig is preceded in death by her father, Melvin Swenson and three brothers, John, Mark and Timmy Swenson.
