Sophie Rambeck, 85, died on Sunday, November 18, 2012 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND with her loving daughters at her side. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, November 23, 2012 at Faith Lutheran Church in Goodridge, MN with Rev. Robert Dahlen officiating. Burial will follow at Germantown Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a 7:00 PM prayer service on Thursday, November 22, 2012 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN. Sophie Sund was born at home on the family farm in Highlanding Township, Pennington County, MN on May 17, 1927 to Evan J. and Marie Christine (Sedig) Sund. She was baptized into the Lutheran faith and attended school in Highlanding, MN. Sophie moved to Thief River Falls in 1950 where she worked until marrying Orrin Rambeck on June 15, 1962. They farmed in Moylan Township of Marshall County near Goodridge, MN area until their retirement in 1985. She belonged to Faith Lutheran Church in Goodridge. Sophie enjoyed reading a good book, working with her plants and flowers, and going to ladies aide. Sophie was a wonderful baker and was always ready to have a cup of coffee and homemade cookie; and she also quilted when she was younger and shared quilts with her children and grandchildren. She loved her grandchildren and always had time for them. Sophie was a strong, independent woman. Survivors include daughters, Laurie (Lonnie) Swanson of Roseau, MN and Marilyn (Trent) Stanley of Goodridge, MN; 5 grandchildren, Brent (Janelle) Swanson, Ryan (fiancé, Jeni) Swanson, Mitchell (Kelsey Swanson) Stanley, Justin Stanley, Brandon Stanley; two great-grandchildren, Leah Kristine Swanson and Madyson Sophie Stanley; two sisters, Mabel Hayes of Akron, OH and Mathilda Sund of Grand Forks, ND; brothers, Martin Sund and Orvin Sund both of Thief River Falls and many other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Orrin in 1994; sister, Gladys Olson; brothers, Evan, Floyd and James Sund; and baby brother, Barent Sund.
