Obituary






Stanley L. Larson, 76 of Mentor, MN died Sunday, January 30, 2000 at Riverview Hospital in Crookston, MN. Arrangements with the Petterson Funeral Home in Red Lake Falls.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 3, 2000 at 10:00 AM at Faith Lutheran Church in Mentor, MN with Reverend Sylvia Jerdee Officiating. Burial will be held in the Faith Lutheran Cemetery Mentor, MN.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 5 " 7 PM with a 6:30 prayer service and also one hour prior to services at the Faith Lutheran Church in Mentor.
Stanley Leonard Larson was born January 24, 1924 son of Albert and Sophie (Thoveson) Larson at McIntosh, MN. He was raised and attended school in Erskine graduating from High school there. In 1944 he entered the US Army and was stationed in Japan for one year. He was Honorably discharged as a Sargent T5 in 1946. He returned to Mentor to work at the Creamery for a time and was manager of the Liquor store in Mentor for 27 years retiring in 1985. On June 25, 1963 he was united in marriage to Eraine Sabourin in South Dakota. Eraine passed away March 2, 1993.
Stanley enjoyed fishing, gardening and yard work but, most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family. He was a member of the Lions Club, served on the Mentor City Council for many years and a member of the American Legion Post #0421 in Mentor and VFW Post #3839.
He is survived by his mother Sophie Larson of McIntosh, MN: two sisters Violet Lecy of Long Prairie, MN and Shirley Hubbert of Overton, NV. Step children Darold (Dolores) Dalton of Miltona, MN and Donna Glass of Mentor, MN. Daughter in law Karen Dalton of Minnetonka, MN and sister in law Mabel Sabourin of Brooks, MN: 10 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren: 2 nieces and 10 nephews.
Stanley is preceded in death by his father Albert, wife Eraine, Stepson Dwight Dalton, sister Marion Golden and brother Arnold Larson.
