Obituary

Stanley O. Moen, 82, died Thursday, January 16, 2003 at Northwest Medical Center, Thief River Falls, MN

Funeral service will be at 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday, January 22, 2003 at First Lutheran Church in Middle River, MN with Reverend Mary Gaebler officiating. Burial will be in Spruce Valley Cemetery, Middle River.

Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Tuesday, January 21, 2003 at the Johnson-Green Funeral Home in Thief River Falls, MN with a 7:00 P.M. prayer service on Tuesday evening and on hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday.

Stanley O. Moen was born September 17, 1920 in Manfred, North Dakota, the son of Arthur Justin and Elma Jane (Ellingson-Kalisko) Moen. He was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran Faith and attended school in Newfolden, Minnesota. He worked for area farmers until he entered the United States Army on July 15, 1942, during World War II. He was stationed in Rhineland and Central Europe. Stanley was Honorably Discharged on November 21, 1945 at Fort Bragg, NC. He continued to work for area farmers following his Discharge. On April 27, 1947 Stanley was united in marriage to Stella Mae Lamb. The couple moved to Havre, Montana, and worked for Roy Burger for a time before moving to Big Sandy, Montana, where he farmed and ranched. Stanley also worked for a Farm and Ranch Ford Tractor Company in 1959 and was transferred to Fort Benton in 1961. A few years later he was transferred to Havre, Montana until he retired in 1982. Following his retirement the couple moved back to Middle River, MN.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, mechanics, puzzles, playing pool, gardening, and making the daily rounds to visit his friends.

He was a member of the Middle River American Legion and the American Rifle Association.

Survived by wife, Stella of Middle River, MN; children: Judy Johnson and special friend, Robert Zidon of Grafton, ND, Dolly (Elmer) Rasmussen of Middle River, MN, Ruby Moen and special friend Pat Corley of Jonesboro, Georgia; Arthur (Diane) Moen of Middle River, MN, Darlene (Delwin, Sr.) Johnson of Middle River, MN and Wade Moen of Thief River Falls, MN; grandchildren: Lyle Moen, Delwin Johnson, Jr., Justin Moen, Christine Moen, Jake Moen, April Craft, Kristen Johnson, Lynn Jones, Quinten Rasmussen, Stephanie Dearinger, Donna Huestis and John Otto; several great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and one brother, Leland (Fae) Moen of Holt, MN.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Marvin Moen
