Steven H. Gibbs, Jr., 20, died on Tuesday, August 11, 2009 at Edgewood Group Home in Thief River Falls, MN.

Funeral services will be held 7:00 PM Monday, August 17, 2009 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN with Pastor George Davis officiating.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Monday, August 17, 2009 at the funeral home.

Steven Howard Gibbs, Jr. was born May 28, 1989 at Waconia Ridgeview Hospital in Waconia, MN the son of Steven and Dorothy (Hess) Gibbs. He was baptized into the Lutheran faith by a Chaplain at the Childrens Hospital in Minneapolis, MN just before his open heart surgery. Steven had many complicated medical issues to deal with his entire life.

At the age of 8 years old Steven moved to Edgewood Group Home in Thief River Falls. He spent the next twelve years scooting around on his chair and getting hugs from the staff. He enjoyed getting attention from the staff, riding his bike, and swimming. He brought a lot of joy to the staff; he also enjoyed music and participating in activities.

Steven worked at the ODC in Thief River Falls.

In addition to his friends and staff at Edgewood Group Home and ODC, Steven is survived by his mother, Dorothy Deedee (Albert) LaPlant of Bruce Crossing, MI; father, Steven Gibbs, Sr.; brother & sister, Thea and Terry T.J. Gibbs; and many other relatives and friends.
