Steve Homme, 52, died on Friday, April 14, 2006 at First Care Medical Services, Fosston, MN.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 19, 2006 " 2:00 PM at Bethany Lutheran Church, rural Goodridge, MN with Rev. Bob Dahlen, officiating. Burial will be in the Bethany Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4:00 until 8:00 PM with a prayer service held at 7:00 PM at Johnson Funeral Service and on Wednesday one hour prior to the service in the church.
Steven Ole Homme was born on March 16, 1954 in Thief River Falls, MN, the son of Obert and Ann (Nessen) Homme. He was baptized and confirmed in the lutheran faith at Bethany Lutheran Church. Steve attended school in Thief River Falls, graduating from Lincoln High School in 1972.
Following high school, Steve went to work at Arctic Cat until 1980, where he worked in the welding and engineering departments. In 1974 he was united in marriage to Ellen Anderson in Crookston, MN. Steve and his brother Robert worked on the pipeline north of Thief River Falls and in Michigan for about one year. He then owned and operated Quik Strip, refinishing furniture for a few years. In 1982, he returned to work for Arctic Cat after they re-opened. Steve also owned Exact Machine Company in Thief River Falls and most recently was working at Sno Bear Industries of Fargo.
Steve was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church, was active in Alcoholic Anonymous Fellowship and helped many people face the heartache of addiction. He enjoyed watching NASCAR and especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and having coffee at his brother Orlens house. He was very mechanically inclined and had a great sense of humor which will be dearly missed.
Steve is survived by his children Sarah Homme, Crookston, Matthew (Sandi) Homme, Viking, MN; granddaughters Chelsey and Dayle; brothers Orlen (Kathy) Homme, Thief River Falls, Alan Bud (Linda) Homme, Goodridge, Robert Homme, Goodridge; sister in law Marlene (Duane) Kuzel, Grand Forks, ND; uncle Tom Homme, Thief River Falls; aunts Agnes Norberg, Coon Rapids, MN, Seleen Knutson, Thief River Falls, Lily (Lee) Beggs, Kennewick, WA, Alice Nessen, Chisago City, MN, along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Chet Nessen; nephew Chad Homme; great nephew Zachary Homme and several aunts and uncles.
