Susan Dionne, 69, of Thief River Falls, MN passed away on Thursday, January 1, 2015 at Sanford Hospital in Fargo, ND. Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM, Monday, January 5, 2015 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN with Pastor David Fish Officiating. Burial will be held at Greenwood Cemetery in Thief River Falls, MN. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Monday. Susan Kay Dionne was born September 25, 1945 in Portland, OR daughter of Joseph Paul and Norma Frances (Barrett) Dionne. She was raised in Sherwood, OR and attended school there graduating from Sherwood High School in 1963. On July 10, 1965 she was united in marriage to Homer Eldon Kizer at Sherwood, OR. To this union three daughters were born Katherine, Kristel and Kori. The family moved to Alaska the end of 1974 where they raised their family. She was employed for the Department of Motor Vehicles in Alaska. They moved back to Oregon in 1984. Susan was involved in a severe automobile accident in 1984 which left her permanently handicapped. The couple divorced in 1989. Susan continued to live in Oregon where she attended the University of Oregon and graduated in 1991 with a BA degree in Gerontology. She worked for the State of Oregon from 1998 to 2003 when she moved to Thief River Falls. She enjoyed quilting and crocheting, gardening, playing the piano and cello, loved to spend time at the Oregon and Alaska beach, enjoyed playing double deck pinochle and Solitaire, puzzles, loved her video games, root beer floats, ice cream and deep dish boysenberry cobbler, but most of all she loved being a granny. Susan is survived by her daughters Katherine (David) Adams of Lynnwood, WA, Kristel (Brett Boomgaarden) Kizer of Thief River Falls, MN and Kori Kizer of Jerseyville, IL; grandchildren Kevin Hall, Kenneth Hall, Richard Hall, Rachel Hall and Evangeline Hurlburt; one sister Mary (Tom) Elkins of Tualatin, OR; two nieces Jenny and Heidi. She is preceded in death by her parents and her brother David Dionne.
