Susan Nelson of Goodridge, MN, died Thursday March 12, 2015 at Cancer Treatment Center of America, Tulsa, OK, at the age of 63. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday, March 20, 2015 at Zion Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls, MN, with Rev. Bob Dahlen officiating. Burial will follow at Silver Creek Cemetery, Thief River Falls, MN Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a 7:00 PM Prayer Service on Thursday, March 19, 2015 at Zion Lutheran Church, Thief River Falls, MN. Visitation will also take place one hour prior to Susan's funeral service, at the church on Friday. Susan Elizabeth Pederson was born on October 8, 1951 in Crookston, MN, the daughter of Warren and Doris (Ueland) Pederson. She was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Crookston. Susan attended and graduated from Crookston High School. She also attended Northland Community College. On September 19, 1970 she was united in marriage to Doyle Jon Nelson at Silver Creek Church, rural Thief River Falls, MN. Susan worked alongside Doyle on the family farm in Goodridge. Throughout her life she worked for Midland Co-op, Thune-Upham Insurance, and lastly Land O'Lakes Turkey Plant/Northern Pride Inc for over 25 years. Susan served as the Agder Township Board clerk for several years and was a member of Goodridge Area Snowmobile Club. She was also a member of the North Country Horsemen's Saddle Club. Susan enjoyed time outside gardening and traveling to warm destinations. Horses were always a passion of Susan's, having them since childhood. She loved teaching her grandchildren how to ride and show. Susan was a lover of every kind of animal including her pet skunk, raccoon, and all farm animals. Her other pastimes included shopping, going to craft fairs, knitting, weaving, curling, fishing, and going to the Casino. One of Susan's greatest pleasures was spending time with her family and grandchildren. She was an avid attendee and supporter of all their activities. She will deeply missed by all who knew her. Survivors include sons: Jeremy (Tara) Nelson, Thief River Falls, MN and Jesse (Katie) Nelson, Goodridge, MN; five grandchildren: EmmaRae, Ethan, Kayla, Lydia, and Wade Nelson; mother Doris Pederson, Crookston, MN; brother Roger (Corrine) Pederson, Whitehall, MT and sister, Diane (Bill) Noah, Crookston, MN; mother-in-law Irene Nelson of Thief River Falls, MN; sisters-in-law Pamela (Gary) Battleson of Thief River Falls, MN, Melrene (Larry) Kaiser of Thief River Falls, MN, JoDee (Ron) Reierson of Thief River Falls, MN, and Danae (Joseph) Khalaf of Dallas, TX, and several nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband Doyle Nelson on October 10, 2008; father Warren Pederson; father-in-law Jerrold Nelson; grandparents; several aunts and uncles.
