Sybil Joanne St. Ives was born on October 19, 1929 on a farm near Terrebonne, MN, the daughter of Eli Pierre and Edna Ruth (Pouliot) St. Ives. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Anthonys Catholic Church in Terrebonne and attended Beaugerlot School through 8th grade, graduating from Lafayette High School in Red Lake Falls in 1945. Following High School she attended Business School in Fargo, ND. She worked at Warners Insurance in Fargo.
On June 16, 1949 Sybil was united in marriage to Maurice Joseph Derosier in Terrebonne. In April, 1951 the couple moved to a farm near Red Lake Falls, where they raised their six children. They moved to Chicago, IL in 1983 and to the Twin Cities in 1986. In October of 1989 they returned to Red Lake Falls.
Sybils first and foremost responsibility was being a wife, mother, and homemaker. She had a strong faith and lived it daily. She was a very caring person, who brought the best out in everyone. She was a talented seamstress and gardener. She loved working with her flowers and especially loved visiting with family and friends.
She was a member of the Lake Pleasant Homemakers Club, St. Joseph RCIA Team, St. Josephs School Board member for ten years, Catholic Daughters, Cursillo Movement, St. Josephs Ladies Guild, American Legion Auxiliary, St. Johns Hospital Auxiliary, Hillcrest Board and Auxiliary and District Representative for the Nursing Home.
Sybil is survived by her husband, Maurice of Red Lake Falls, MN; six children: Michael (Linda) Derosier of Kettle Falls, WA, Larry (Jeanette) Derosier of Roy, WA, Susan (Charles) Kaufman of Shoreview, MN, Lucy (Massimo) Mazzoni of Porto San Giorgio, Italy, John (Janet) Derosier of White Bear Township, MN and Janet (Michael) Etten of Roseville, MN; 14 grandchildren: Amy (Terry), Laura (Fianc Brad), Tracy, Nathan, Devone (Steve), Joseph, Brian, Craig, Paolo, Andrea, Nicolette, Sophie, Elizabeth and Katherine; and 6 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Glen St. Ives; two sisters: Julie Costello and Charlotte Remick; and two infant brothers.
