Obituary

Sylvia Jensen, 73, died peacefully on Tuesday, December 29, 2009 at her residence with her loving daughter, Elizabeth at her side.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, January 2, 2010 at St. Bernards Catholic Church in Thief River Falls, MN with Father Rick Lambert presiding. Burial will follow at St. Bernards Cemetery in Thief River Falls, MN.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM with the Divine Mercy Prayers at 6:30 PM and at 6:45 PM Rosary and 7:00 PM prayer service on Friday, January 1, 2010 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN.

Sylvia Elizabeth Pulczinski was born on Dec. 18, 1936 the daughter of Joseph, Jr. and Elizabeth (Gerszewski) Pulczinski in Greenbush, MN. She was baptized into the Catholic faith. She attended rural school through the 8th grade and graduated from Greenbush High School. Sylvia chose nursing as a career and graduated from Sisters of St. Joseph School of Nursing of North Dakota in 1957.

She worked as general duty nurse in Jamestown, ND; Tucson, AZ; and Honolulu, Hawaii; before returning to Thief River Falls MN where she worked general duty, house supervision and co-lead nurse in the first ICU at NWMC.

On October 14, 1961 Sylvia was united in marriage to Duane Jensen in Leo, MN and to this union a daughter, Elizabeth Ann was born. They lived for a short time in Portland, OR before returning to Thief River Falls where she continued to work at the hospital.

In 1966, Sylvias nursing career continued as an instructor in the LPN Program at NCTC from which she retired after 31 years. In her retirement she worked as Parish Nurse at St. Bernards Catholic Church.

Church and God were important aspects of her life. She was a member of St. Bernards Catholic Church in Thief River Falls. Sylvia participated in pro-life activities and Rachaels Vineyard ministries; was very active in the Cursillo Movement, and participated in prayer group and bible study for many years. Sylvias leisure time activities included reading, gardening and yard work.

Survivors include her loving daughter, Elizabeth of Thief River Falls, MN; brothers, Daniel (LaVonne) Pulczinski of West Fargo, ND, Edward (Jeanette) Pulczinski of Greenbush, MN and Ernest (Patti) Pulczinski of Texas; sister-in-law, Karen Pulczinski of Muskego, WI; and several nieces, nephews, god-children and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Walter.
