Sylvia Sannes of Middle River, MN, passed away on June 26, 2015 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND at the age of 66. A Memorial Service will be held at 7:00 PM on Monday, June 29, 2015 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN, with Rev. Cathie Rhodes officiating. Burial will follow at the Holt Cemetery, Holt, MN. Visitation will be held from 6:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Monday, June 29, 2015 at Johnson Funeral Service, Thief River Falls, MN. Sylvia Joan Olson was born on October 26, 1948 in Thief River Falls, MN, the daughter of Gilbert O. and Beatrice E. (Johnson) Olson. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. Sylvia attended school in Middle River, graduating in 1966. She later returned to college and graduated from Northland Community College in 1990. Sylvia was married to James Hill from 1969 - 1980. To this union was born their daughter, Karla. In 1982 Sylvia and Richard Sannes united their families in marriage. Sylvia and Richard welcomed their third daughter, Collette the following year. Together they made their home by Holt. Sylvia worked as a stay-at-home mom. After her college graduation she worked at Discovery Place in Thief River Falls before starting her own home daycare. In 2001 Sylvia started work at Digi-Key, retiring in 2010. Sylvia enjoyed reading, watching the Minnesota Twins, knitting, embroidery, and sewing. She got the most enjoyment from spending time with her grandchildren. Sylvia was a member of First Lutheran Church in Middle River, MN. Sylvia is survived by her husband, Richard of Middle River, MN; daughters, Karla (Dan) Loerzel, Tracie (Jason) Peterson, and Collette (Jeremy) Neste all of Middle River, MN; grandchildren, Nicole (special friend Sean Farris) Loerzel, Brandon Loerzel, Christopher Koehmstedt, Joshua Koehmstedt, Bryton Wappula, Helaina Peterson, Jackson Peterson, Emma Neste, Clarissa Neste, and Caleb Neste; sister, Olive Wiskow of Goodridge, MN; brother-in-law, DelRay Sannes; sisters-in-law, Sandra (Richard) Gladbeck and Carolyn (Scott) Loe; many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. Preceding her in death are her parents; step-daughter, Pearl Beatrice; granddaughter, Autumn Sannes-Neste; sisters, Margaret Swenson and Gloria Olson; brothers, Verlin Olson, Harlan M. Olson, and Gilbert "Pete" Olson; brothers-in-law, Emil "Alvin" Swenson and Eugene "Ole" Wiskow and sister-in-law, Janet Olson.
