Sylvia Steinert 94, of Red Lake Falls, MN passed away on Saturday, October 11, 2014 at her home in Red Lake Falls, MN. Mass of Christian burial will be held on Wednesday October 15, 2014 at 10:30 AM at St Joseph Catholic Church in Red Lake Falls, MN with Father Bill DeCrans, MSGR Roger Grundhaus and MSGR Gerry Noeson Officiating. Burial will be held at St Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Red Lake Falls, MN. Visitation will be held Tuesday, October 14, 2014 at Johnson Funeral Service, Red Lake Falls, MN from 5 - 8 PM with a 7:00 PM prayer service and also one hour prior to service at the church on Wednesday. Sylvia Mae Paquin was born December 19, 1919 daughter of the late Henry and Emma (Hance) Paquin at Red Lake Falls, MN. She attended St. Joseph School, Lafayette High School and Teacher training in Red Lake Falls. She taught in rural Red Lake County Schools for four years. In 1941 she was united in marriage to Gordon Steinert at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Red Lake Falls. He was in the Army in the South Pacific. During his service Sylvia worked in Los Angelis. Following his discharge they returned to Red Lake Falls where they raised their three children Stephen, Sandra and Susan. Sylvia worked for the ASCS office in Crookston for twenty years and retired in Red Lake Falls. Sylvia was a charter member of the Catholic Daughters, a past president of the American Legion Auxiliary and member for65 years, life member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and an Oblate of Mount St. Benedict in Crookston. Sylvia loved music and was a church organist and choir member of St. Joseph Church. She played the piano regularly at Hillcrest Nursing Home and for special events there. She was an avid supporter of the local theater and had roles in several productions. Sylvia is survived by her children Stephen (Julie) Steinert of Red Lake Falls, MN, Sandra (Stan) Jasnoch of Rosemont, MN and Susan (Jerry) Wallace of Cushing, WI: grandchildren Michelle, Jennifer, Christopher, Synthia, Krista, Matthew, Jessica, Thomas, Patrick, Kelly: 23 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren: sisters Marie Nelson of Minneapolis, MN, Cecelia Dubuque of Fountain Valley, CA, Monica Morrison of Bloomington, MN, along with several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, brother James Paquin and granddaughter Dana Thury.
