Sylvia Bertha Burian was born to Mary (Matowsik) and Maurice Burian on July 31, 1928 at 4:19 AM at Strathcona, MN the third born along with sister, Ann and brother, Joseph.
As Sylvia tells it, her big sister, Ann, helped raise her, due to the age and health of her parents.

Sylvia as a teenager helped raise her nieces and nephews, Joey, Johnny, Bobby, Ruthie, Mildie and Betty. Soon, Sylvia moved to Thief River Falls to work as a waitress at the Pennington Hotel and met her future husband, Milton Battleson. They were married on August 10, 1951 in Rosemount, MN and soon made their home in Thief River Falls. To this union two children were born, Paul Milton and Nancy Ann.

They purchased a farm eight miles east of Thief River Falls and began raising Mink. They named their business Battleson Fur Farm which they ran until the early 1970s. Milton also worked on the Soo Line Railroad and Sylvia worked at Arctic Cat. Milton died in 1992 and Sylvia continued to work at Arctic Cat for an additional couple of years and then retired.

She met Lloyd Lars Wiseth in Thief River Falls in 1993 and after two years of courting she married this wonderful man on May 19, 1995 at Faith Lutheran Church in Goodridge, MN with Rev. Robert W. Dahlen officiating. The couple made their home on the Wiseth family farm north of Goodridge, MN. Lars and Sylvias union brought together their six children Bryan, Trudy, Jody, Sandy, Paul and Nancy along with numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren whom they loved very much. In 2008 they moved into Goodridge where they have continued to live.

Sylvia worked hard all her life from a very young age and always said she was happiest when she was busy. If there is one virtue that summarizes Sylvias life, it is this; she was an others centered person.

They loved to travel and sight-see, she also enjoyed crocheting, needlepoint, gardening, canning goods from the garden, and attending the grandkids sporting events. Sylvia was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Goodridge, VFW Auxiliary in Thief River Falls, Lioness Club, Eastern Star and Western Fraternal Life Association Lodge #219.

Sylvia and Lars traveled yearly to Yuma, AZ enjoyed life in the sun with friends and family.

Paul and Nancy and all of Sylvias family gratefully thank Lars and his family for making their mothers life so fulfilling and filled with special moments.

She had accepted the Lord Jesus Christs free offer of salvation by asking Him to be her personal Lord and Savior. In His presence she now lives in pure joy, peace and love. To God be the glory forever. Maranatha!
