Obituary

Teddy Thompson, 48, went home to be with his Lord on Sunday, October 21, 2012 at the Pioneer Memorial Care Center in Erskine, MN surrounded by his loving family. Funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, October 24, 2012 at Westaker Free Lutheran Church in Newfolden, MN. Burial will follow at Westaker Cemetery, rural Newfolden, MN. Visitation will be held from 9:30 AM until 10:30 AM on Wednesday, October 24, 2012 at the church. Teddy Lynn Thompson was born June 8, 1964 in "Coon Holler" - Dean, Kentucky. In 1970, Teddy was adopted by Curtis O. and Elaine M. (Skyberg) Thompson. He was baptized and confirmed at Westaker Free Lutheran Church in Newfolden, MN. He attended Newfolden Elementary and graduated from Marshall County Central. Teddy then attended Northland College in Thief River Falls and played baseball for Northland; he also pitched minor league baseball for Wahpeton. Teddy worked for Homark Manufacturing and later for WoodMaster in Red Lake Falls. He moved to Tennessee and worked as a finishing painter and for various construction companies. Teddy returned to Minnesota in June of 2012 and resided at the Pioneer Memorial Care Center in Erskine, MN. Teddy loved sports, especially baseball; Ted's pitching skills on the baseball field led to interest from the professional baseball team, the Kansas City Royals. He was also very artistic; and rolled grapevine wreaths and sold to local florist shops in Tennessee, Virginia, Kentucky and Minnesota. Survivors include his parents, Curtis and Elaine Thompson of Newfolden, MN; siblings, Robbin (Roger) Mathsen of Alvarado, MN, Mark (Barb) Thompson of Moorhead, MN, Roger (special friend, Denise Counter) Thompson of Thief River Falls, MN, Lisa (Sam) Sparhawk of Shevlin, MN, Susan Ballou of Eden, NC, Loretta Baker of Millstone, KY, Sharon Niece of Whitesburg, KY, Vonda Ballou of Bristol, TN, Rick Ballou of Whitesburg, KY, Betty Brown of Hays, KS, Kathy Elkins of Morristown, TN; a daughter of Anchorage, AK; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Teddy is preceded in death by his grandparents, Olga & Campbell Thompson and Myrtle & Clarence Skyberg; and biological parents, Clay Hall & Linda Ballou.
