Obituary

Telton Hanson, 80, of Minneapolis, MN, died on Saturday, November 27, 2004 in Barnesville, MN surrounded by his loving family.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM, on Wednesday, December 1, 2004, at the OE Larson Funeral Chapel, 2301 Central Avenue North, Minneapolis, MN with Pastor Kathleen Burns, officiating. Burial with honors will be held at 2:00 PM the Fort Snelling National Cemetery.

Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the funeral.

Telton Orville Hanson was born on April 15, 1924 in Star Township, Pennington County, MN near Plummer, MN to John and Jessie (Kolstrand) Hanson. Telton grew up speaking Norwegian until the age of 10. He attended Country School and High School in Goodridge, MN. After school he worked for his uncle on the Kolstrand Family Farm. Telton then entered the US Army in March of 1945 and served his country during WW II, as an MP, being stationed in Hawaii. He returned home to Plummer area and continued working on various farms. Telton then moved to Minneapolis near his brothers and sisters to find work. Telton was united in marriage to Darlyne Jeanette Morey on September 30, 1960 at Pilgrim Lutheran Church in Minneapolis, MN. They made their home in Minneapolis, MN. Telton began working at Waldorf Paper/Champion International Company in St. Paul where he drove a forklift. After retirement, Telton stayed home caring for his grandchildren.

Telton was a storyteller. He had a knack of remembering details and could talk about the old days with the best of them. Telton also enjoyed talking about politics and Minnesota government. He had an opinion. Telton also had a love for cars. Telton was an avid hunter, spending many deer seasons with his brothers in law in the Wannaska, MN area hunting. He was also very supportive of his family. He rarely missed an important function, not only in his children and grandchildrens lives, but also his extended family including his nieces and nephews events. He and his wife Darlyne were there to support their entire family. Telton was also the family picture taker. You could always count on him to have his camera ready. Telton was an excellent card player who enjoyed playing cards, especially whist and smear. His grandchildren will remember him for his pancakes. They loved when Grandpa would make pancakes.

Telton is survived by his wife Darlyne, Minneapolis, MN; 3 children: Pamela (Tom) Kile, Minneapolis, MN; Violet, Minneapolis, MN; Karen (Scott) Radcliff, Bloomington, MN; 4 grandchildren: Todd Kile, Robert Kile, Andrea and Mitchell Radcliff. 1 great grandchild: Jourdan Kile; 1 brother John Woody , Minneapolis, MN; and several in laws and nieces and nephews.

Telton was preceded in death by his parents, 3 sisters: Eva Pederson, Bernice Nerva, Alice Carlson, 4 brothers: Myles, LeRoy, Ernest, and Chester Hanson.
