Thelma Hanson was born December 27, 1921, at Winner, MN, the daughter of Henry and Annie (Midbo) Hanson.  She was the 2 nd of 10 children born to Henry and Annie.  She was baptized and confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church at Winner, MN, which is located south of Roseau, MN.  She attended Winner School.  As a young woman, Thelma was employed as a housekeeper and worked for farm families in the Roseau area.

On January 10, 1940, Thelma was united in marriage to Clifford Anderson in Thief River Falls, MN.  The couple made their home near Grygla, MN on the Anderson family farm in Hamre Township, Beltrami County.  They lived on and operated the farm for 45 years.  During this time Thelma also worked at the Fourtown store for 25 years.  For a short time she also worked at Land O' Lakes in Thief River Falls and Arctic Cat for 7 years.  After Clifford's passing in 1984, Thelma moved to Thief River Falls.  While living in Thief River Falls she managed the craft shop at the Heritage Center, scheduled for the Tri-Valley bus transportation, and coordinated all the senior dances.  Retirement wasn't in her blood – while living at the Skylite apartments Thelma helped in various areas where needed.  For the last 5 years Thelma has resided at Warroad Assisted Living.

Thelma was a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church, Grygla, MN, and at Trinity Lutheran Church, Thief River Falls, MN.  She also held membership with the American Legion Auxiliary.  Thelma enjoyed entertaining her family and friends, gardening, cooking and baking, embroidery, and sewing, but mostly enjoyed times spent with family.
