Thelma Berggren, 80, died Thursday, April 12, 2007 at Innovis Hospital, Fargo, ND.


Funeral service will be 2 PM, Monday, April 16, 1007 at Redeemer Lutheran Church, Thief River Falls, MN with Pastor George Davis and Pastor Rance Berggren co-officiating. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery, Thief River Falls, MN.

Visitation will be 2 " 5 PM, Sunday, April 15, 2007 at Johnson Funeral Service, Thief River Falls, MN with a 5 PM prayer service and for one hour prior to service at the church, Monday.

Thelma Oral Skretvedt was born June 11, 1926 at Nielsville, MN, the daughter of Halvor and Anna (Waale) Skretvedt. She was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran faith and accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior. Della attended Telemarken Country School and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1943.

On August 5, 1944, Della was united in marriage to Edwin Berggren at the parsonage in Thief River Falls, MN. She did waitress work and housekeeping for several years, cooked fish at VFW Post #2793 in Thief River Falls and was an auxiliary member.

Della was a member of Silverton Lutheran Church, Thief River Falls and was the Ladies Aid President for 50 years. She loved gardening, planting flowers, loved to cook and bake, loved to make lefsa for friends and family and enjoyed playing bingo. She liked putting puzzles together along with her husband. Most of all, Della loved spending time with her family and grandchildren. She was always so active and full of energy.

Della is survived by husband, Edwin, Thief River Falls, MN; sons: Larry (special friend, Brenda), Hungry Horse, MT, Donavon (special friend, Elaine Kruse), Thief River Falls, MN, Dale (Deb), North Pole, AK and Rance (Deb), North Pole, AK; daughters: Karen (special friend, Ken Jones), Fort Collins, CO, Diane (Isaac) Mack, Hopkins, MN, Linda (Durlyn) Rux, Thief River Falls, MN and Deb (Ron) Johnson, Hopkins, MN; 21 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; sisters: Ida Solheim, Crookston, MN and Ella Sustad, Stephen, MN; sisters-in-law: Ellen Newton, Thief River Falls, MN and June Berggren, Thief River Falls, MN; sister-in-law: Edith Berggren, Seattle, WA and several nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents Halvor and Anna, grandchildren, Terry Berggren, Josh Berggren, Chad Bugge and Angie Berggren, sister, Alice Forseth, Ginger Iverson, Gertie Skretvedt; brothers-in-law, Morris Newton, Carl Berggren, Alphen Berggren, Ted Berggren, Arley Forseth, Julius Solheim and Gordon Iverson; sisters-in-law, Gladys Sundt, Julia Berggren, and Helga Kaushagen.
