Obituary

Thelma Delia (Myrom)Halvorson, age 100, died Thursday August 15, 2013 at Thief River Care Center in Thief River Falls, MN, with her granddaughter, Nancy asleep by her side. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, August 24, 2013 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Thief River Falls, with Rev. John Voelker PhD. officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Thief River Falls. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral service at the church. Thelma was born on Nov. 21, 1912 in High Landing Township, MN, the daughter of Anton and Anna (Nelson) Myrom. Her parents immigrated from Norway to Thief River Falls area. Thelma was raised on the family farm and attended High Landing Township Schools. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. In May, 1934, she was joined in marriage to Lester Halverson and to this union was born a son, Lloyd. Thelma enjoyed the farm life, and was known for her great hospitality and cooking always putting others first and caring for them even before herself. Thelma's was known as "the place to go." She cooked for the thrashing crew on their farm, did lots of canning, flower gardening, crocheting, and knitting. Thelma's special touch was her homemade lefse, donuts, Swedish rice pudding, and her famous baked beans. Thelma and Lester lived on the farm until 1994 then moved to Ham Lake, MN where Lester passed away in 2001. In 2006 Thelma moved into Valley Home in Thief River Falls and in 2008 she moved to the Thief River Care Center where she lived until her passing. Thelma is survived by her son, Lloyd (Carol) Halvorson; grandchildren, Larry (Jayne) Halvorson, Linda Halvorson, Mark Halvorson, and Nancy Halvorson; sisters, Carolyn Egenes, Harriet Christiansen, Evelyn Thaxton, Leona McGill, and Vivian Gilbertson; and many nieces and nephews Thelma is preceded in death by her husband Lester; a baby daughter; parents, Anton and Anna; brothers, Clarence, Ernest, and Clifford; sisters, Marion, Agnes, and Irene. Thelma is resting in peace.
