Thomas Gullikson, 66, died Monday, October 12, 2009 at his home under the care of Red River Valley
Hospice surrounded by his loving family.
Memorial service will be 2 PM, Saturday, October 17, 2009 at First Lutheran Church, Middle River, MN with Reverend Curtis Matz presiding. Burial will be at First Lutheran Cemetery, Middle River.
Visitation will be 5 " 8 PM, Friday, October, 16, 2009 at Johnson Funeral Service, Thief River Falls, MN with a 7 PM prayer service and for one hour prior to the service at the church Saturday.
Thomas Paul Gullikson was born on February 26, 1943 in Thief River Falls, MN to Thomas and Louis (McAdam) Gullikson. He was baptized and confirmed at First Lutheran Church in Middle River. He attended school in Middle River and graduated in 1961. Tom served his country in the US Army and was honorably discharged in 1969.
He was united in marriage to Lynn Adelle Walton on July 9, 1966 at First Lutheran in Middle River. They made their home in Middle River. For the first few years of their marriage they lived in the Twin Cities. Tommy worked on road construction for many years and on the oil rigs for a couple of years. They settled on a farm south of Middle River in 1978. Tom continued working road construction.
Tommy enjoyed fishing, hunting, and playing cards, especially pinochle and poker. He loved life and had a great sense of humor. He could play a practical joke with a straight face and thought fast on his feet. He liked watching the Minnesota Vikings and Twins. He enjoyed the grandchildrens activities and all high school sports. He enjoyed golfing with his friends.
He was a member of the Middle River American Legion, First Lutheran Church, and the Operating Engineers & Teamsters Union. Tommy served on the Middle River School Board.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Lynn, Middle River, MN, 2 children Thomas (Michelle) Gullikson, Strathcona, MN, Anthony (Michelle) Gullikson, Warren, MN, 9 grandchildren: Skylar, Haley, Thomas, Dakota, Hunter, Gracealis, Payton, Kinzie, Gavin, 1 great grandchild Lakylie, 3 sisters: Jackie (Bud) Berger, Detroit Lakes, MN, Peggy Shimpa, Thief River Falls, MN, Bonnie Borgerson, St. Hilaire, MN, 21 nieces and nephews, and many cousins.
He was preceded in death by grandparents, parents, and 2 sisters: Kathleen Mickey Danielson, Dixie Hanson.
