Thomas McGlynn Sr., age 84 of Mentor, MN passed away on Monday, April 13, 2015 at the Villa St. Vincent in Crookston surrounded by his loving family. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, April 17, 2015 at 10:30 AM at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Mentor with Father Joe Richards Officiating. Burial will be held at St. Lawrence Catholic Cemetery near Mentor. Visitation will be held from 5-8 PM with a 7:00 PM Prayer Service on Thursday, April 16, 2015 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Mentor and also one hour prior to the service on Friday at the Church. Thomas Pierce McGlynn Sr. was born July 16, 1930 son of Clark and Florence (Sinnott) McGlynn Sr. at Stephen, MN. He was raised in the Stephen MN area where was baptized and Confirmed at St. Stephens Catholic Church at Stephen. He attended Marshall County one room country school through 8th grade. On February 15, 1952 he entered the US Army and served during the Korean War and was honorably discharged November 17, 1953. Tom received 3 Bronze Stars for his action during his service time. On November 30, 1957 he was united marriage to Mary V. Baatz at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Mentor, MN. The couple made their home on the farm north of Mentor where they have continued to live all of their lives. Tom was employed at American Crystal Sugar in Crookston for 25 years and worked for Transystems for 12 years. Tom enjoyed hunting, farming, playing cards and bingo. He was a member of the American Legion serving as treasurer and served on the Township Board. Most of all Tom enjoyed spending time and visiting with his grandchildren and wondering if they had fun. He is survived by his children Peggy (Scott) Nelson of Worthington, MN; Greg McGlynn of Red Lake Falls, MN; Ruth Ann McGlynn of St. Paul, MN; Dennis McGlynn of Red Lake Falls, MN; Connie (Keith) Wavra of Red Lake Falls, MN, Patty McGlynn of East Grand Forks, MN and Tom (Cecily) McGlynn Jr. of Mentor, MN: Grandchildren Kayla (Wes) Lebsack, Garrett Nelson, Paul (Aimee) McGlynn, Mariah McGlynn, Tom McGlynn, Devin McGlynn, Kia McGlynn, Terri (Aaron) Knott, Erin (Travis) Lage, Jennifer Wavra: great-grandchildren Cashton and Griffin McGlynn. Siblings Rita Nelson of Stephen, MN, Rosemary (PJ) Schiller Argyle, MN, Clark (LouAnn) McGlynn Jr. of Mentor, MN: along with many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Mary on December 22, 2001, brothers Dan McGlynn and Gene McGlynn and daughter-in-law Sally McGlynn.
