Thorvald Lee, 78, died on Saturday, October 23, 2004 at Northwest Medical Center in Thief River Falls, MN.
Thorvald Kalmer Lee was born on June 12, 1926 in Marsh Grove Township, Marshall County, Minnesota, the son of George O. and Karen (Kolstad) Lee. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Faith and attended Sunnyside Country School and Newfolden High School, graduating in 1945. Following High School he attended Northstar Bible College in Warren, MN.
Thorvald was united in marriage to Violet Luverne Holmaas on July 4, 1958 in Newfolden, MN. The couple lived in Newfolden their entire married life. Thorvald worked road construction for various construction companies, including Chester Dyrud and Thygeson Construction, where he retired in 2003. He was a dozer and scraper operator and heavy equipment operator.
He enjoyed sports, hunting and was a faithful High School basketball fan. He had a terrific memory for people and loved to visit with his family and friends. Thorvald moved to Oakland Park Nursing Home in November of 2003.
Thorvald is survived by one daughter, Karen Lee of Newfolden, MN; one son, Timothy (Charlene) Lee of Brooks, MN; four grandchildren: Shannon (Scott) Lambert of Oklee, MN, Shelly (Craig) Flatgard of Oklee, MN, Chad Morinville of Wadena, MN and Nathan Lee of Brooks, MN; four great grandchildren: Devon, Connor and Carson Lambert and Levi Flatgard; one sister, Katherine Knutson of Newfolden, MN; and also nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Violet on September 18, 1971; his parents; and one brother, Gordon.
